Bhopal: Supreme Court on Monday said that first year MBBS students of RKDF College can be accommodated in other medical colleges as sufficient number of medical seats are lying vacant in Madhya Pradesh. The apex court further said that matter is pending with High Court,
which can take an early decision.
About 150 MBBS students were given admission in RKDF Medical College in 2017 but Medical Council of India cancelled its affiliation. As a result, 150 students are moving from pillar to post to get admission in other medical colleges. In an earlier order too, the apex court had told MP government to accommodate these students in other medical colleges.
But MP government filed a petition in High Court stating that 107 seats are vacant after cancellation of admission under NRI quota and they can be accommodated on NRI seats. However, the students have declined the NRI quota seats saying that NRI students may take legal recourse in future to get admission under their quota. The students said they want seats with no legal hassles.
The students also said that it is not difficult for state government to accommodate them. Earlier, the state government had allocated 37 seats for the students. Besides, a medical college in Indore has seats available where they can be accommodated.
