Bhopal: While a six-year-old abducted boy was being reunited with his family in Indore on Tuesday morning, two masked persons abducted five-year-old twins of an oil merchant at gunpoint in Satna. This is second case of abduction reported in last three days.

The Indore police brought Akshat Jain, son of a grocery shop owner, back from Sagar. According to reports, abductors developed cold-feet due to swift police action and left the boy outside a police outpost in Sagar. While the Jain family of Sukhilya in celebrated the return of the kid, another family around 600 km from Indore was distraught and struggling to come to term with the news about abduction of twins studying in kindergarten.

Satna SP Santosh Singh Gaur said that the two brothers, aged 5 years, were kidnapped from Sadguru School campus around 1 pm. He said that after the school got over both boarded their school bus. As the bus started leaving the campus, two masked miscreants entered the bus and took away the twins on gunpoint in Nayagaon police circle.

The entire incident was captured in CCTV, said a senior police officer. “Devansh and Shivans, twins of Brijesh Rawat, were boarding a bus in their school premises to return home after classes got over for the day. Two unidentified motorcycle-borne persons took them away at gunpoint,” Gaur said.

Police teams are scouring CCTV cameras in the area to get leads on the two men, he added. Rawat owns a pharmaceutical firm and produces various medicinal oils. The police and the family are clueless about kidnapping. No ransom call was received by the family till Tuesday evening.

Contd. Inspector K P Tripathi of Nayagaon police station said the incident might be a fall out of some enmity as the two kidnappers have not demanded any ransom from the family as yet. He added that police suspect involvement of gangster Babli Kol, a history-sheeter with Rs 5 lakh reward on his head.

The two kidnappers disappeared into a forested area of the district, he added. The SP said that teams have fanned out in search of kidnapped boys. Informers’ network too has been activated. The district boundaries have been sealed and every vehicle is being checked. Even the borders with UP have been sealed.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Gopal Bhargava claimed that as the government was busy in transfer business, posts in several police stations were lying vacant. “Officers posted in the field are in a dilemma over their continuation. Due to uncertainty, they are merely going through their motions instead of checking crime. As a result, the law and order situation is worsening in the state,” he claimed.
