Bhopal: 15 held for gambling under cop’s shelter

BHOPAL: Over 15 persons were arrested by police for gambling in forests on Sunday evening. The mastermind of the gang is identified as Satish Sharma, a police constable posted with the Police head quarter (PHQ). He is said to have been suspended in the past as well for some irregularity.

The teams from three police stations led the raid in the forests of Shahpura near Bawadia Kala area. Teams from Shahpura, Baghsewania and Habibganj police stations cordoned off the area where around 20 men were involved in it. However, seeing the teams few of them fled while 15 persons were arrested.

The accused are in the age group of 25 and 40 years. Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Sanjay Sahu said around Rs 1.12 lakh, over 10 two-wheelers and a four-wheeler have been seized by police. Nabbed accused have been taken to Shahpura police station where they are being quizzed about the others who fled the area.
