Bhopal: The foreign tourists from Indonesia and Thailand, who were found preaching in Barwani district, have been asked to leave the district. ‘No FIR has been lodged against them,’ said IG (intelligence) Makrand Deouskar here on Wednesday. In Barwani, 12 tourists from two countries were staying in a mosque.

The matter was reported to the district police, which investigated the matter and asked them to leave the district. The IG further said five tourists from Indonesia and seven from Thailand, staying in the mosque since February 2, were found breaching the visa norms.

He added that on tourist visa, a tourist can visit any place in the nation but not the restricted areas. According to the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs, a tourist cannot involve in religious activities like preaching. He/she can follow his/her religion but cannot preach and for the preaching purpose, he/she has to obtain the Missionary visa. But those coming from Pakistan have to inform the local police station about their presence, but the tourists coming from other countries do not have to follow the above norm. The tourist visa is given for 180 days.
