Bhopal: Bharatiya Janata Party may not give ticket to 10 of its 26 MPs in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. BJP, in the recent assembly polls, gave ticket to three MPs: Nagendra Singh (MP from Khajuraho), Manohar Untwaal (MP from Devas) and Anup Mishra (MP from Morena).
Singh and Untwaal won but Mishra lost the elections. They may not get ticket for Lok Sabha polls this time. Union minister for external affairs, Sushma Swaraj, who is MP from Vidisha, had already announced her unwillingness to contest elections.
According to sources BJP would field new candidates from Khajuraho, Dewas and Morena. Similarly, Savitri Thakur from Dhar, Subhash Patel from Khargone, Bhagirath Prasad from Bhind, Phaggan Singh Kulaste from Mandla, Laxminarayan Yadav from Sagar and Jyoti Dhurvey from Betul may be denied ticket this time.
Sources said the issue of contesting election from Gwalior has been left to Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s wish. Tomar has to decide whether he wants to contest from Gwalior or any other seat. According to sources BJP would search for new candidates to field from Guna, Chhindwara and Ratlam seats. BJP is targeting those seats first where it did not fare well in the recently-held assembly polls, said sources. Sources said the MPs, whose report in the survey conducted by BJP central leadership about Lok Sabha seats, is critical, will not be given ticket this time.
