BHOPAL : Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, addressing Commissioners and Collectors through video-conferencing here on Tuesday, asked them to behave courteously with the people. He said that “Your behavior can make or unmake the image of the government”.

The CM’s advice comes in the wake of the controversies kicked up by the insensitive remarks made by the Collectors of Bhind and Datia.

He also expressed annoyance over the Collectors of Tikamgarh, Panna and Chhattarpur not furnishing details of the damage to Soyabean crops in their districts till date.

The CM said that the farmers hit by deficient rains would not be left in the lurch and that the state government would give them every possible help.

He said that officers should make arrangements to reach relief to the farmers and as also benefits of the crop insurance scheme. It should be ensured that they sow Rabi crops in time and alternative means of employment should be provided to them.

Chauhan gave clear-cut instructions to the officers that it is the topmost priority of the government to stand by the farmers in their time of crisis. Officers should help farmers using their knowledge, talent, skills and experience.

The relevant forms of RBC should be filled also crop insurance claims should be filed with Insurance Company. Strict action would be taken against those showing laxity. Chief Minister said the distribution of relief should be done with sincerity and transparency. The relief amount should be decided not only on the basis of shortfall in rain but also on the productivity of crop. Chauhan directed the officials to make arrangements for fertilisers and seeds. He asked them to suggest to the farmers that they should sow crops as per availability of water. He also asked them to get bank account number registered while preparing a case as the relief money would be distributed through bank accounts of farmers.

Chief Minister said a long-term scheme would be made for the solution of the problems of the farmers. He said he would conduct surprise inspections in villages from October 25 to 27. Chauhan said Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day will be observed with simplicity on November 1.
