BHOPAL : After suspending former Tribal Commissioner JN Malpani, the state government is to take action against Balaghat Collector V Kiran Gopal.
Kiran Gopal is charged with sending teakwood worth Rs 16 lakh to his home situated in West Godawari district of Andhra Pradesh.Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Sunday sought clarification from Kiran Gopal.
Kiran Gopal submitted some documents in his support but Chauhan is not satisfied with them. Chauhan has asked to submit complete information in this regard separately. Information has also been sought from Balaghat SP and Forests Department about the role of district administration in smuggling of teak wood. Chauhan may issue orders to remove Kiran Gopal after getting the report. Sources said adequate evidence against the Collector is available. A Special Investigation Team probing into smuggling of wood has gone to Andhra Pradesh to investigate.
It is also being investigated as to what was the reason behind sending teakwood from Balaghat to Andhra Pradesh.
