BHOPAL : If small traders and businessmen are not allowed to run their businesses in the name of anti-encroachment drive, crime rate will definitely rise in the city. “It is an attack on our livelihood”, one of them said.
The anti-encroachment team of the BMC had to face stiff opposition of the traders in the Bhopal Talkies area on Wednesday. The BMC team removed sheds and dismantled platforms of shops. The drive was conducted from Bhopal Talkies to DIG Bungalow covering Sindhi Colony.
As per the traders, they had put up sheds for protection from heat and rains. These sheds should not be treated as encroachments. If this continues, they will have to take to crime to make the two ends meet.
Ritu Jain of GJ Traders , Bhopal Talkies, said “What is wrong in putting up sheds? Beautification should not be done at the cost of livelihood.” But BMC administration is unwilling to see reason”.
