80,000 hit in Bhopal, 3.5-L families in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal: Rain water entering into houses, affected 80,000 persons in the state capital after excessive rains on Saturday morning while nearly 3.5 lakh families were affected all over the state. This came to fore in a review meeting chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday.

The worst hit districts due to the torrential rain include Bhopal, Satna, Rewa and Betul. The state government has launched relief and rehabilitation. Rs 4 lakh will be given to affected families in case of deaths while cases of injuries and house damages will be compensated as per guideline of Revenue Book Circular (RBC).

The CM instructed officials to take prompt initiatives to check spread of diseases after rain in the state. Instruction has also been given to hold health check up camps. Besides, the samples of drinking water would also be collected. Officials have been told to ensure not to supply contaminated water.

Besides, 10 persons, stranded in flood in Belagaon village after the Parasia bridge got damaged in Chhindwara district, have been evacuated.

Over 7,500 people stranded in the flood-affected areas have been shifted to safer places. Around 25,000 houses have been completely damaged and 18,000 houses are partially damaged. A total number of 1,450 people have been rescued in the past 24 hours in Vidisha district.
