BHOPAL : A 2-year-old child who sustained severe injuries last week after falling down to ground at Hotel Pukhraj located at Habibganj area died on Saturday night. His father had come from Odisha with him and his mother to the city where he had to attend a seminar.
According to the Habibganj police sources, Dr Santosh Kumar, resident of Brijraj Nagar, Odisha along with his wife arrived in Bhopal for attending a medical seminar. Their 2-year-old son Deepak was also with them.
They were staying at Hotel Pukhraj. The arrangement of their stay at the hotel was planned by organisers of the seminar. As Dr Kumar had to attend the seminar, he left the hotel on January 23, while his wife was staying at room with Deepak.
During the daytime, when the kid’s mother was sleeping and the gate was open the child went out of the room while playing and started swinging in the balcony. He dozed off suddenly and fell down from third floor of the hotel in his sleep.
Deepak sustained severe head injuries in the accident. As the child fell down on the hotel premises, all the staff got baffled. The staff member immediately rushed to the third floor and informed his mother about the accident.
The mother with the help of hotel staff called Dr Kumar and took the child to a hospital located in Arera colony and admitted him.
As the duty doctors found it a critical case, they referred him to Narmada Trauma Centre.
The child undergoing treatment for over a week died on Saturday night. Police have registered a case and investigating officer Dharam Singh Arya said that the child was only two-year-old, that’s why he fell asleep while playing at a small gape between the railing of balcony situated at third floor.
He sustained severe concussion as he fell down direct to the ground. We got information of his death from the hospital and have registered a case of death caused by accident on Saturday, Arya said.
