New York : Sky, a wire fox terrier is America’s top dog, outsmarting 2,845 others contestants at the prestigious kennel show. The 5-year-old female dog won best in show at the 138th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show held on Tuesday night at the Madison Square Garden.
Sky, whose full name is “GCh. AfterAll Painting the Sky” beat a field that included a standard poodle, a Portuguese water dog and a bloodhound. Sky’s owners are Victor Malzoni Jr. and Torie Steele, and her handlers are Gabriel and Ivonne Rangel. A beaming Gabriel Rangel stood with Sky after she won the title.
This was a record 14th time that a wire fox terrier has won at the top dog show in America. Sky has won 129 best in show awards and was ranked as the country’s No. 1 show dog last year.
