Mumbai, April 22: Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended heartfelt condolences to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the devastating terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. The attack, which took place near Baisaran meadow, claimed the lives of at least 27 tourists, including two foreigners, and left over a dozen injured.

In a message addressed to Indian leaders, President Putin said, “Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians — citizens of various countries. This brutal crime has no justification whatsoever.”

Putin emphasised the need for justice, expressing hope that the perpetrators and masterminds of the attack will be brought to account. He also reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with India in combating terrorism “in all its forms and manifestations.”

The attack occurred when 2–3 terrorists disguised in army uniforms opened fire on crowds of tourists enjoying the scenic valley. The incident shocked the nation and drew swift condemnation from global leaders.

Putin concluded his message by offering sympathies to the families of the deceased and wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. The Russian President joins a growing list of international voices standing in solidarity with India in the wake of this tragedy.

He said, " Esteemed Mrs President, Esteemed Mr Prime Minister, Kindly accept the sincere condolences over the tragic consequences of the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, whose victims were civilians — citizens of various countries. This brutal crime has no justification whatsoever. We expect that its organisers and perpetrators will face deserved punishment. I would like to reiterate our commitment to further increasing cooperation with Indian partners in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Please convey words of sincere sympathy and support to the near and dear ones of the deceased, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery of all injured."
