Mumbai : Swapnil Gond from Agnel Gymkhana (Navi Mumbai) and Shwetta Hakke from Dahisar’s VPM Sports Club bag golds in their respective hurdles in style while Thane’s Preet Surve added 200m gold to the yesterday’s 100m and long jump golds in the boys under-16 on the second day of the  India Masters Athletics’ Inaugural  Five-District Open Track And Field Championships, held at the University Stadium here today. Swapnil took a fast start and was just way ahead of his rivals to claim gold in the 110m hurdles in 15.9 secs, while,  Shweta, who missed 100m sprint gold  yesterday, won the women’s 100m hurdles in splendid fashion in 16.1 secs.

However, Akshaya Iyer from Thane’s Achievers, who beat Shweta in the 100m, completed a grand sprint double as she bagged the 200m gold , with Shweta again finishing second best.

But the girl who caught the eye most was a 12-year-old Agrata Melgunde, from Airoli’s Falcon SC in shot put event. She hold the state record of 11.49 mts in the girls under-14 age group and on Friday though she could not better her own rcord, she won gold.
