Mumbai : Santa Cruz Sunrisers and MIG Feathers snatched narrow 3-2 wins in the opening week of the PJ Hindu Gymkhana Sir Wilson Jones BSAM Mumbai Snooker League 2014.

Sunrisers overcame Dombivli Gymkhana Fighters in Group A, while Feathers beat WCG Willingdon Wizards in Group K to earn five points including a bonus point for winning at home and away.

CCI Jaguars, NSCI Hell’s Angels, JVPG Achievers, Islam Gymkhana Thrashers and PJ Hindu Gymkhana Bashers were among the other teams that earned five points.

Playing with a handicap of +40, Poras Shah of Matunga Gymkhana Sparrows hit 52 and 36 for the first week’s significant breaks to help his team also earn five points in Group J.

Fifty-six teams including defending champions Bombay Gymkhana Phantoms and the last edition’s runners-up PJ Hindu Gymkhana What’s In a Name, feature in the league that has 12 groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the knock out to be hosted by PJ Hindu Gymkhana.
