Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi may not retire from ODIs after the upcoming Champions Trophy as he had previously planned. The 40-year-old is now reconsidering his decision and hopes to continue playing, possibly alongside his son, Hassan Eisakhil.

Last November, Nabi announced he would quit ODIs after the Champions Trophy, but he recently told the ICC that he is "still thinking" about his future. He plans to reduce his ODI appearances to give younger players more opportunities but might still play in key matches, depending on his fitness.

Nabi’s 18-year-old son, Eisakhil, is a batter who represented Afghanistan in the Under-19 World Cup in 2024. Nabi dreams of playing alongside him in the national team. He encourages his son to work hard, set high goals, and aim for big scores.

Nabi has been preparing by playing in the Bangladesh Premier League, where he won the title, and training with the Afghanistan national team in Abu Dhabi.

Afghanistan schedule for Champions Trophy 2025

Afghanistan is in Group B of the Champions Trophy, alongside England, Australia, and South Africa. This is their first appearance in the tournament after finishing sixth in the 2023 ODI World Cup. They also reached the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Afghanistan will start their Champions Trophy campaign against South Africa in Karachi on February 21, followed by matches against England on February 26 and Australia on February 28 in Lahore.
