Mumbai : Top seed Maanav Mehta was at his best, while quelling the spirited challenge of Dev Rajdev to win the junior boys singles title in the JVPGC-MSDTTA Promotional Table Tennis tournament, hosted by Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana here on Tuesday.

Maanav, who triumphed 7-11, 11-7, 11-7, 6-11, 11-7, was aggressive and varied the direction of his strokes intelligently while countering Dev’s tentative strokeplay. Maanav, through dropped the first game, was simply unstoppable as he was in control right through the tie even though Dev did stretch him by winning the fourth game.

Maanav, however, ran away with the decider convincingly. Sheefa Shaikh and Shivam Das were pretty impressive while bagging their respective junior girls and sub-junior boys singles titles.

Bespectacled Sheefa outplayed Synora D’Costa 11-8, 11-7, 11-5 and so too Shivam who thrashed Dishant Tawade 11-4, 11-8, 11-5.
