Mumbai : Veteran Satyanarayan Dontul of Bombay Andhra Mahasabha shocked recently crowned world champion Prashant More of Reserve Bank of India in a 2-1 thriller to storm into the third round of the Bombay YMCA 4th Mumbai District Ranking Carrom Tournament, at the Procter YMCA, Agripada.
Dontul, dropped the opening game that More won with a white slam, recovered brilliantly to win the next two for a famous 4-25, 25-12, 25-20 win that ended in a nail-biting finish following a gripping decider. With the break-to-finish in the opener, More looked set to sweep past Dontul who was yet to strike a rhythm. But, as Dontul surged ahead in the second game to force the decider, the pressure began to tell on More as the world crown weighed heavily on his shoulders.
