A lecture on the topic 'Vedic Microbiology' was organized on December 27, 2024, jointly by Yashwantrao Mohite College of Bharati Vidyapeeth Abhimat University and the Microbiologists' Society, India, Pune Division.
Prof Dr RC Dubey, former Head of the Department of Microbiology, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, was invited as the resource person. According to the new National Education Policy, a component of Indian knowledge tradition has been included in the degree-level curriculum. Vedic microbiology has a close relationship with the Indian knowledge tradition, and Dr Dubey explained this thoroughly in his lecture. The knowledge of ancient Indians was based on science, but it was ignored by Western culture. However, Dr Dubey expressed the opinion that this knowledge is useful for human life and has a scientific basis.
Dr Sham Bajkal, former Principal of Yashwantrao Chavan Science College, Karad, was present. Dr. Bajkal appealed to the students that there is a need for in-depth research on ancient information and that students should make efforts for it. Teachers and students from the departments of microbiology and biotechnology from all colleges in Pune city were present for this event, while many teachers and students from Maharashtra and Goa also joined online. Around 300 students from more than 35 colleges of various universities registered for this event and took advantage of it.
Principal Dr Vivek Rankhambe elaborated on the importance of Indian knowledge tradition. On this occasion, the Dean of the Science Department of the university, Dr EA Singh, and Vice Principal Dr SS Patil were also present.
Coordinator of the program, Dr GV Mali, gave an introduction, explaining the importance of Vedic Microbiology. Prof Himani Dhabale moderated the program, while Prof Sanmati Dilpak proposed a vote of thanks.
