The rumours about the spread of bird flu have terrified the residents of Nanded district. The district animal husbandry deputy commissioner, Dr. Rajkumar Padile, stated that there is no bird flu epidemic in the district and that eating chicken and eggs is not harmful to residents. He urged the public not to be afraid of the rumours circulating on social media.
Recently, bird flu-like symptoms were found in some birds in Kivla village in Loha taluka, Nanded district. However, such incidents have not been reported in any other parts of the district, so there is no bird flu epidemic, according to animal husbandry sources.

Some birds in a poultry farm in Kivla village were found dead on January 20. The samples of these birds were sent to the laboratory for testing. After confirmation of bird flu in these birds, those within a one-kilometer radius were destroyed using scientific methods. This included 282 large and 456 small birds. The area within a 10-kilometer radius has been declared an alert zone. Additionally, all poultry birds will be tested every 15 days for the next three months. If further incidents occur, precautionary measures will be taken.
In 2006, a bird flu epidemic was seen, and since then, the animal husbandry department has adopted an ideal execution policy to prevent the disease. The samples of affected birds are sent to the laboratory for testing, allowing immediate action to be taken upon confirmation of bird flu. This disease is spread only through migratory birds. Poultry businesses in areas affected by the disease are closed for three months, according to sources.
