Mumbai, March 17, 2016. Buyers and trade delegations from Tanzania, South Africa, Morocco, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Pakistan, Mexico, Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, Belarus, Chile, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Ethiopia, Oman, etc. are likely to attend CAPINDIA 2016, the showcase event by the Government of India to promote exports. Jointly hosted by four export promotion councils, CHEMEXCIL, PLEXCONCIL, CAPEXCIL AND SHEFEXIL, the three-day event will include conferences, discussions, buyer-seller meets and participation by over 250 exhibitors covering manufacturers/exporters showcasing a range of Industrial & agricultural inputs, consumer items, packaging items, plastics processing machinery. CAPINDIA 2016 is being held at Mumbai on March 20-22, 2016.
Briefing the media about the initiative, Shri B.S. Bhalla, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said, “India is an important player in the global trade of chemicals, plastics and allied products. There is tremendous scope to increase our share in the global trade. Initiatives such as CAPINDIA 2016 are aimed to showcase the capabilities of potential sectors and serve as a strong networking platform between players round the globe. Finding newer markets for exports are a part of Government’s vision of achieving exports of US$ 900 billion by 2020 and raise India’s share in global exports from 2% to 3.5%.
The value of Global chemical industry is estimated at $3.26 trillion, while the output of Indian chemical industry is $144 billion. The global chemical industry is expected to reach $4.5 trillion by FY17, while Indian chemical industry is forecasted to reach $224 billion in fiscal 2017. This shows that India’s global contribution is at a nascent stage and has enormous potential in the near future.
Over the last few decades, the chemical industry has seen an increasing shift towards Asia, where Indian chemical industry stands out to be the third largest producer and 12th in the world in terms of volume. India accounts for approximately 16 per cent of the world production of dyestuff and dye intermediates, particularly for reactive acid and direct dyes.
Manufacturers and exporters of industrial and agricultural inputs covering a range of basic chemicals including organic, inorganic, agrochemicals, dyes & dyestuff, Castor oil and its derivatives, polymers, master batches, paints, printing inks, glues, pigments, varnishes, allied products, guar gum powder, tamarind kernel powder, aleutitic acid, medicinal herbs/extracts will be showcased at CAPINDIA 2016.
Also on display will be packaging items, consumer items covering house ware, writing instruments, stationery items, cosmetics and toiletries, flavors and fragrances, essential oils etc., besides plastics processing machinery.
