Haridwar, March 20: The rhythmic flow of the Ganges, the golden hues of sunset, the twinkling lights of thousands of lamps, and the divine resonance of Vedic hymns—Har Ki Pauri once again became a witness to the unparalleled grandeur of Indian culture. The 62nd All India Shastrotsav, organised by Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi and hosted by Patanjali University, was a magnificent event that glorified India’s ancient wisdom on the global stage.
This was not just a spiritual gathering but a historic moment where thousands of scholars and devotees from across the country collectively participated in Shastra Shravan (scripture recitation) and Ganga Aarti, setting a world record. It was as if the dedication of India’s ancient sages and seers was being revived in a tangible form.
As dusk settled, the crimson glow of the sky reflected in the calm waters of the Ganges, while thousands of devotees assembled on the ghats, creating a divine aura. The first chime of the temple bells heralded the beginning of the Ganga Aarti, and the rhythmic chanting of the Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda, and Atharvaveda filled the air, making it seem as if the entire cosmos was swaying to the sacred vibrations. Verses from the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, and Yoga Sutras blended harmoniously, presenting a grand symphony of spirituality, philosophy, and devotion.
Following the Shastra Shravan, the commencement of the Ganga Aarti turned the atmosphere mesmerising. Eminent scholars, saints, and spiritual leaders, holding grand oil lamps, stood in unison, while the air echoed with the sound of bells, cymbals, and the divine chant of "Har Har Gange." Countless flickering lamps cast their golden reflections on the flowing Ganges, creating a sight not just to behold but to experience with the heart. It felt as though Mother Ganga herself was blessing her devotees.
This event was not just a festival but an effort to reconnect with our roots. It reaffirmed that India’s civilisation, enriched with Vedic hymns, yogic practices and the wisdom of Ayurveda, still holds the power to guide the world. The grandeur of this Shastrotsav was not limited to one evening—it ignited a renewed wave of cultural and spiritual revival. As long as the Ganges flows and the Vedas resonate, the legacy of this grand event will be remembered.
"The Vedas Are Both Our History and Our Present" – Swami Ramdev
On this occasion, Swami Ramdev, Chancellor of Patanjali University and a revered yoga guru, stated, "The scriptures are not just words; they are the nectar of eternal wisdom. As long as India embraces its culture and Sanatan traditions, the world will continue to experience the flow of spirituality and peace."
Emphasizing the significance of Vedic knowledge and unity, he urged for a strong and organized effort toward building a prosperous India. He further asserted, "The Vedas are not just our past; they define our present and future."
Acharya Balkrishna, Vice-Chancellor of Patanjali University, highlighted the essence of the Shastra Shravan and Ganga Aarti, urging people to integrate Sanatan Dharma into their daily lives. He remarked, "The Vedas and scriptures are not just religious texts; they are the ultimate guide to a meaningful life. Their teachings in science, medicine, and philosophy have the potential to enlighten the entire world."
Meanwhile, Prof. Srinivasa Varakhedi, Vice-Chancellor of Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, lauded Patanjali University’s initiative as a historic milestone, stating, "Today, thousands of students collectively recited scriptures, establishing a world record. This event underscores the importance of reviving Sanskrit, Vedas, and Indian knowledge traditions."
Additionally, Prof. Sadhvi Devapriya, Dean of Patanjali University, emphasized the renaissance of Indian scriptures, saying, "This event will serve as an inspiration for future generations, accelerating the spread of Vedic wisdom, Upanishads, Ayurveda, and Yoga."
