Mumbai : Even after announcement of the corporation elections in Kalyan-Dombivali, the BJP is planning to go ahead with the “Vikas Parishad” Sunday (October 3), wherein chief minister Devendra Fadnavis is expected to address development related issues of the city. The step is expected to boost the party’s stakes in this prestigious election where it is most likely to be pitched against its ally in the state as well as the union government, the Shiv Sena.
The party leadership plans to extend the “Development Agenda” based campaign, which was successful in state as well as parliamentary elections last year, to the corporation elections also. “To boost the image of ‘party committed to development’ the route that is chosen is to involve the masses in the process of development. The “Vikas Parishad” is being organised with this vision,” finance minister and former state chief of BJP Sudhir Mungantiwar said.
“Chief Minister Devendraji said lets organise many more such interactions in as many towns-cities as possible, when I told him about the response that the conference generated. We decided to test the idea in Kalyan-Dombivali,” Mungantiwar said.
