Train Robbers loot women of valuables

Aurangabad : A group unidentified men, armed with swords, knives and sticks, robbed at least 15 women passengers of their gold jewellery on a moving Kakinada Express between Parbhani and Gangakhed railway stations in the early hours on Thursday.

According to police sub-inspector, Jayesh Landge, the Sainagar Shirdi-Kakinada Express left Gangakhed station and might have crossed 10 kms when the robbers entered coach S-1 and looted some women passengers of their gold jewellery articles by wielding the weapons they had with them. They repeated the same of act in coaches S-2, S-3, S-4 and S-5. One of them pulled the chain to slow down the train and then all of them vanished into the thick cover of darkness.

According to reliable sources, the high drama continued for 20 minutes. In total, they snatched gold articles from 15 women. However, nobody put up any resistance and meekly gave in to their demands.

The police official said the incident came to light when the women informed the railway police at Parali railway station. A case has been registered. The police also faced communication problem as the women weren’t able to speak any language other than Telugu. Therefore, the exact number of robbers couldn’t be ascertained.           (FPJ)
