Bhayandar cops book accused for causing death due to negligence

Bhayandar : Two days after a 3-year-old girl was mowed down by a rashly driven delivery jeep, sleuths of the Bhayandar police arrested the killer driver on Sunday.

The accused identified as Abhayraj Jungbahadur Yadav (28) has been booked under sections 304 (a), 279, 337 and 338 of the IPC and under the relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

According to the police, the deceased girl who has been identified as Chandni Rajbhar (3) had gone to attend the nature’s call when she was mowed down by tempo near Bhola Nagar at about 6 pm on Friday. While Yadav fled the spot leaving the vehicle behind, a profusely bleeding Chandni was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

In protest of the alleged police inaction the kin of the deceased refused to cremate the body and staged a rasta roko on Saturday. Sensing the gravity of the situation, police arrested Yadav from his residence in Bahyandar (east). He will be produced in court on Monday.
