Bhayandar: The Mira Road police have arrested 12 staffers including the manager of Hotel Park View on charges of mounting a violent attack on an Army personnel and his two friends following a petty tiff over inflated food bill. A native of Nanded, the Army personnel, Prashant Waghmare, is deployed along the Punjab border and had married just a fortnight ago.

To celebrate the occasion, Waghmare along with his two friends, Sandesh Parte and Anand Kale, had visited the hotel for a food and drink session on Monday night. However, a war of words over the issue of adding abnormally high service charges apart from GST on their bill, took a violent turn after the hotel staffers including the manager, waiters and security guards downed shutters and attacked the trio.

“After scanning the sequence of events captured by the CCTV cameras, we have nabbed 12 assailants including the manager identified as Sudhakar Shankar Poojary (41). More arrests will follow,” confirmed Senior Police Inspector Vasant Labdhe. A case under sections 143, 147, 149, 323 , 504 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against the accused who were remanded to magisterial custody after they were produced before the District Sessions Court, Thane on Wednesday.
