Mumbai: Terrace-hopping, the newest craze among teenagers addicted to performing stunts, proved fatal for a 15-year-old boy in Navi Mumbai on Friday. He fell to death from the terrace of a four-storey building at Juinagar in Navi Mumbai, while performing stunts on Friday evening. Police sources said the teenager was jumping from the top of one building to another and in the process, stumbled on one of the tin roofs, which collapsed, causing him to fall to death. An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered in the matter.
On Friday evening, around 8 pm, the teenager and his friends came out for an evening stroll. After having recently appeared for his Class X board examinations, the teen wanted to play cricket with the younger kids in Ajinkya Tara building in Sector 24 of Juinagar. However, since those boys had finished their game, the teenager and his friends went to the terrace of the four-storey building.
Police said, while the others were chatting on the terrace, the teen wanted to show off by performing stunts. “The deceased began jumping from the top of one building to another, as he would often do. Only this time, the tin roof on one of the buildings collapsed and the teenager fell to death from the terrace of the four-storey building. He was rushed to a private hospital for treatment, but was declared dead before admission,” said a senior police officer. Juinagar police have registered an ADR in the matter and are investigating the case further. Lately, the craze of performing deadly stunts has taken over the young minds, who have forayed their stunts from performing in trains to jumping rooftops.
