In the growing age of digitalisation and cybercrime, a young trio ran to spread awareness against cybercrime. The participants dressed as a scammer, hacker and police person, became the centre of attraction with their style of asking cybercrime victims to come out and report the crime.

The Tata Mumbai Marathon saw no bar on expressing oneself as people ran for varied causes while choosing varied themes for their outfits. A trio came out dressed as one of the most attractive group in all black clothes being escorted by a police officer, in a bid to spread awareness about cybercrime.

Priyesh Tripathi (43), Saili Salunkhe (34) and Amruta Kulkarni (37), colleagues at a corporate company, walked the Dream Run category while displaying posters spreading cyber literacy. The duo aimed to promote cyber safety and raise awareness about the growing threat of online scams. This campaign also targeted to educate citizens about safeguarding themselves from hackers and scammers while emphasising the importance of proactive reporting.

Key messages promoted during the event included encouraging citizens to take swift action by reporting any suspicious online activity to law enforcement, highlighting the importance of cautious online behavior and avoiding phishing links, remain aware of the ever-evolving tactics of hackers and promote a culture of verification.

“Cybercrime is the most evolving crime among every other categories and therefore we wanted to use this marathon as a platform to raise awareness about the issue. We informed people what not to do and specially motivating the victims to come out and report the crimes. It was our bid to help the law enforcement agencies in our own ways,” said Tripathi.
