Mumbai: A struggling television actor, Rahul Dixit (28), hanged himself to death on Wednesday early morning, at his Oshiwara residence. Dixit’s body was discovered by his wife, Rupali at 4 am when she opened the bedroom door. The Oshiwara police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) in this matter. While no suicide note was recovered from the spot, police said Dixit had fought with his wife minutes before committing suicide. Further investigating the matter. Dixit had come to Mumbai from his hometown in Jaipur to try his luck in acting, which was his dream. He, however, failed to make it big in the entertainment industry. Two years ago, Dixit played a small role in a daily soap and since then was jobless. This led to constant fights between him and his wife, said police.

On Tuesday night, the couple had invited a few friends over for a party and everyone had consumed alcohol. Both Rahul and Rupali were in an inebriated condition and had a big fight around 3 am, following which Rahul stormed out of the living room and locked himself up in their bedroom. Meanwhile, Rupali and the other friends left Rahul alone to vent his anger and slept in the living room. After an hour or so, Rupali went to check on Rahul in their bedroom, but was instead, she shocked to see him hanging from the ceiling fan using a bedsheet.  Rupali and her friends, immediately rushed Rahul to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, where he was declared dead. Shailesh Pasalwad, a senior police inspector of Oshiwara police station said, “Prima facie the cause of death seems to be due to asphyxiation, however, a post-mortem report will help ascertain the exact reason. We have recovered no suicide note from the spot, but Rupali has mentioned in her statement that she and her husband had got into a fight minutes before his suicide.” Oshiwara police have registered an ADR and are investigating further to ascertain if there was any foul play in the matter. Meanwhile, Rahul’s father, Mahesh, posted an emotional message on Facebook tagging his son, where he wrote, “Is duniya ko kyun chhod kar chala gaya Rahul?” When Free Press Journal contacted Mahesh, he refused to comment.
