SSC toppers score high marks due to dance, music and sports

Four students from the city topped in the Class 10 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board results which were declared on Saturday. Krisha Shah topped by scoring 99.20 per cent, Meghana Date and Sahil Vedpathak scored 98.60, and Ishita Gupta scored 98.20 per cent.

Mumbai: Four students from the city topped in the Class 10 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) board results which were declared on Saturday. Krisha Shah topped by scoring 99.20 per cent, Meghana Date and Sahil Vedpathak scored 98.60, and Ishita Gupta scored 98.20 per cent. All the toppers secured additional marks for participating in extracurricular activities like dance, music and sports.

Krisha Shah, a student of Divine Child High School, Andheri (east), topped from the city by scoring 481 out of 500 marks and secured additional 15 marks for extra-curricular activities. Shah said, “I secured 15 marks for participating in dance competitions for my school, as I am a Bharatnatyam dancer. I did not stress much but studied every day for one to two hours after attending the school and coaching classes.”

Meghana Date, a student of Thakur Vidya Mandir High School, Kandivali (east), claimed she scored a high percentage due to the best of five options. Date said, “I scored less marks in Marathi as compared to other subjects, but that paper was not included in the best of five. Also, I secured an additional three per cent for dance.” Date wants to become a doctor and wishes to pursue the science field.

Sahil Vedpathak, a student of St Lawrence High School, Vashi, secured an additional 10 marks for playing the harmonium. Vedpathak said, “I balanced my studies as I also dedicated time to my music, playing the harmonium. I want to pursue engineering from IIT and also continue with my music school.” Ishita Gupta, a student of Oxford Public School, Kandivali (west), played Netball at the state level. Gupta said, “I played Netball for my school and secured the second position at the state level. I scored an additional three per cent for my contribution to sports. I practised my lessons and revised the syllabus especially on weekends.” Gupta wants to become a doctor and wishes to continue with her sports too.
