Mumbai : A petty argument caused the death of a man at the hands of his own sister in a gruesome manner. The incident occurred on Saturday night in Malvani, near Gate No. 3, in the house of the 24-year-old victim, Santosh Shivkumar Yadav. The police have arrested Pratibha Yadav, his sister, for the same.

According to the police, Yadav lived with his parents in a house near Old Post Office in Malvani. His sister, Pratibha, had moved out of the house after her marriage. Last week, Pratibha was visiting her family and was staying with them. “On the night of December 5, after dinner, the whole family was relaxing when Santosh and Pratibha got into an argument about their mother’s mobile phone. The argument escalated quickly and Pratibha allegedly beat up Santosh,” said an officer of the Malvani police station.

While family members tried to break up a fight, Pratibha allegedly went to the kitchen and got a knife out to threaten Santosh. “She started brandishing the knife to threaten him and in the process slit his throat,” the officer added. An injured Santosh started bleeding profusely from the deep cut and fell to the floor. The shocked family rushed Santosh to Shatabdi Hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

After the police were informed, they started an investigation into the same. On December 6, the Malvani police arrested Pratibha.
