Nalasopara: The Achole police have recovered the decomposed bodies of two siblings from a locked flat in Nalasopara East, suspecting a suicide pact. The room was locked from the inside and forensic teams reportedly discovered a poisonous substance, strengthening suspicions that they deliberately ended their lives.

According to reports, the deceased, a 40-year-old man employed by a foreign company, was facing severe financial difficulties. His 45-year-old sister lived with him and both were unmarried. The case came to light when local residents reported a foul odour emanating from the apartment. Upon entering, the police found their lifeless bodies and began an investigation.

Financial Issues Likely Led To Extreme Step

A senior officer from the Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) police stated that the deceased man had been seeking financial help to repay a loan. He had sent messages to various people, including colleagues, asking for assistance, as reported by Mid-day. His brother, who resides in the same locality but was not in touch with him, confirmed this. Police also recovered evidence of multiple calls and messages from the deceased man, indicating his desperation for funds.

“Forensic teams have gathered crucial samples from the scene,” an officer said, adding that early indications suggest both siblings consumed a toxic substance. The investigation is ongoing, but the locked room and financial distress strongly point toward a suicide pact.

The bodies were transferred to a hospital in Nalasopara for a post-mortem before being handed over to their family for final rites.
