Aurangabad : An open jail for women prisoners will come up in Akola in a month or two, which will be the first one after one in Pune.
The capacity of the upcoming open women’s jail will be between 50 and 75. The paper work in this direction has been completed and the announcement to this effect can be made shortly by the state home ministry as the approval in principle has already been received, sources said. Meanwhile, prison authorities are also emphasising a need for the optimum use of technology and technical equipment on the premises of jails across the state.
