Mumbai : On Sunday, Central Railway will conduct a mega block and there will be no local trains services between Byculla and CST as the Hancock Bridge on the Sandhurst Road (main line) station is scheduled to be demolished. There will be no mega block on harbour and trans-harbour lines.
The work will start from Saturday midnight and run till Sunday evening. Thus all the local train services between Byculla and CST will be cancelled from 12.20 am to 6.20 pm on Sunday, i.e Saturday midnignt to Sunday evening will be conducted. Thus during the mega block all central railway main line locals will run only till Byculla. To prevent the inconvenience, additional trains will be run on harbor and trans-harbor route. While 120 trains on harbor and 40 trains on trans-harbor will run additionally. Due to the block, 100 local trains will not up to CST and 42 long distance trains are cancelled.
During the mega block, BEST will run additional buses between CST and Byculla. The 136 years old Hancock Bridge located at Sandhurst Road station is an obstruction to the reparations of the station platforms which every year causes water logging in area during monsoon. Hence, CR is set to demolish the bridge and a new bridge will be constructed by the BMC.
