Mumbai : In a clear attempt to save all the five MLAs from further criminal action, the fact-finding committee, set up to investigate the matter of MLAs thrashing a PSI has concluded that the CCTV footage has not recorded any MLAs beating the cop.
The committee has also recommended to cancel the suspension of three MLAs and devise a model code of conduct for Legislators. It has also observed that behaviour of PSI with Kshitij Thakur was objectionable.
Legislature has not yet given CCTV footage to the police. It has not allowed the police to carry panchnama of the spot and take possession of hard disk which recorded this shameful incident. The committee report will provide them a strong reason for denying the panchanama or footage.
As Legislature has adopted various tactics to deny CCTV footage to police for further investigation and for using this as a proof, the conclusion of the Deshmukh committee will boost their attempt. ” We checked all CCTV footage, but did not find any MLA beating the cop. Therefore, we have recommended to increase CCTV cameras in the building,” the committee reportedly observed in their report.
As per the recommendation of this committee, the government may move a motion to cancel suspension of three MLAs -Jaykumar Raval (BJP), Rajan Salvi (Shiv Sena) and Pradeep Jaiswal (Independent) on Thursday which is expected to be passed on the same day which is also the last day. Thakur and Kadam were already booked by the police and now the matter is sub-judice. But as per reliable sources, their suspension will be cancelled in Monsoon Session of the Legislature. The committee has also observed that this incident happened due to mistaken identity.
