She was the survivor of Brussels airport bombings in 2016 and is one of the long time serving employees of Jet Airways. Nidhi Chaphekar joined Jet in 1997 and literally grew up in the organisation, in her 23 years of service. Nidhi, who went on to become a cabin manager, says her husband has a good job, yet since the last three months, life has taken a toll on her. The education expenses of her children have been increasing and now it comes to Rs 10 lakh annually, as she says they are committed to give best education to their children. She is hopeful the airlines will be revived.
“Jet Airways is not just an organisation for me or a work place, it is a family,” she said. Over the years she has grown with this institution. “It has provided all the luxuries to our family, in exchange of hard work and integrity,” she reminisces. Though she has excellent experience in the field of aviation, she has no plans to shift to any other airline. “We are looking for a definite answer and shall wait. We are looking out for career and job satisfaction,” said Nidhi. She feels just as one does not leave one’s family in turbulent times, they can’t leave Jet at this juncture. “Just as we don’t leave our family in tough times, we can’t leave Jet now at this juncture. It’s only in the difficult times that you need to be optimistic and stick together,” she said.
