Mumbai: A tragic incident has been reported from Nagpur, where a five-year-old girl was allegedly knocked down by a speeding car outside her home in the Manewada area, resulting in her death.
According to a Nagpur Today report, the incident occurred at around 9:30 pm on Thursday near Badrinath Society in Mahakali Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Hudkeshwar Police Station.
Girl rushed to hospital
The deceased has been identified as Kisha Gurnule. According to reports, Kisha had stepped out of her house for a walk with a neighbour after having dinner. While the two were walking near the society, a speeding car allegedly knocked the girl down.
Following the accident, Kisha was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
While, the reports state that the car was reportedly being driven by Gaurav Malviya, a resident of Manewada.
Police register case against driver
Following the incident, Kisha’s father lodged a complaint at the Hudkeshwar Police Station. Police subsequently registered a case against the car driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act.
The incident has left the girl’s family devastated, with relatives demanding stringent action against the accused.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and examining CCTV footage and other available evidence as part of the probe. Further details are awaited.
Similar Nagpur accident
In a separate incident earlier this month, two Class 11 students were killed and another was seriously injured after the car they were travelling in crashed into a parked truck in Nagpur’s Kalmana area.
The three friends were reportedly travelling to celebrate a friend’s birthday when the accident occurred at around 5:30 am on Pawangao-Bharatwada Y Point Road, within the limits of Kalmana Police Station.
The teenagers were travelling in an electric car when the vehicle reportedly went out of control and crashed into the rear of a truck parked on the roadside.
