Mumbai: A 26 year-old civil engineer has lodged a complaint at the Agripada police station of duping on the pretext of providing a government job by three persons. The complainant, Santosh Ade, a civil engineer by profession, has alleged the accused trio— Rahul Kokare, Santosh Jamnik and Satish Deshmukh— demanded Rs25 lakh from him for the government job.
According to police, the complainant came in contact with one Kokare, who claimed to be working in group D of the railways. Kokare allegedly assured Ade a job of a junior engineer in group C in railways if he pays him Rs25 lakh. Ade was asked to pay the amount in instalments and was given fake documents with the railway board’s letter head to prove the authenticity.
Months later, Ade was asked to go to Kolkata along with father to get his medical test done as directed by Deshmukh. Soon, when the tests were completed, Deshmukh sent a soft copy of the medical reports on railway letterhead to Ade which claimed he was fit for joining the service. Following this, Ade transferred some more money to Deshmukh’s account.
“The remaining money was to be paid after Ade received his official joining letter. Ade waited for several weeks, but when no response came, the trio said his name couldn’t reach for the job approval.
On seeking the refund, they refused. Total Rs9.1 lakh was taken by the accused trio through a series of online transactions,” said a senior police officer. It’s alleged they have duped over six persons in the same way.
