The number of residents who took the Covid jab at the various vaccine centres across the city on Saturday increased by 32%. According to the data, 70,461 beneficiaries were inoculated, of which 51,127 were between 18 to 44 years of age, followed by 31 lactating mothers.
Moreover, in the last four days, 845 were administered Sputnik V vaccine at private centres as part of its pilot project.
So far, 40.17 lakh have been vaccinated since the mass immunization drive began in the city. Of the total, 32.02 lakh have taken their first dose, while 8.15 lakh have taken both the doses. Suresh Kakani, the additional municipal commissioner said the vaccination drive is taking pace now as most of the private hospitals are administering vaccines to 18 plus. Moreover, people are coming forward to take the jab fearing they will contract infections. “We have around one lakh covid vaccine doses and soon we are expecting more to come. Moreover, the adult population is keen on taking a vaccine as most of them are going abroad for studies,” he said.
