Even after strict regulations of Maharashtra state board, a question paper of Science I of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination was leaked on a WhatsApp group of students hours before the exam on March 15.
According to DNA, the incident came to light when a social activist named Govind Sharma, who is the founder of Samvad Foundation NGO, wrote to the Mumbai Divisional Board about the alleged leak immediately after he came to know about it, but his complaint went unheeded. The NGO had written several emails to the board with screenshots of SSC question papers that were being circulated on WhatsApp. On March 14, the organisation had also tweeted the screenshots and tagged the official handle of Thane police.
Govind Sharma told the leading daily, “One of my sources informed me that a Bhiwandi-based school was going to receive the Science-I paper a day before the exam. On the day of the exam, I sent the screenshot of the message to the Board officials and also shared it with the police. The police took my statement on March 16, but the Mumbai division board officials didn’t act.”
After four days, on Tuesday, the Mumbai divisional board officials approached the Bhiwandi police to register a first information report (FIR) based on the NGO’s complaint.
