Mumbai: The body of a 34-year-old man was found in a deserted place in the Damu Nagar area of Kandivali East on Monday. He had a serious injury on his head. The body was taken into custody and was sent for a post-mortem. A case was registered, said Samta Nagar Police.

Police Solves Murder Plot

What looked like an accidental death initially, turned out to be a murder after the investigation. The local police successfully unravelled the mystery surrounding the murder. Upon inspection at the crime scene, the Samta Nagar Police grew suspicious as there was no apparent point where the victim's head could have struck, leading to his demise. This initially prompted the police to register a case under the Accidental Death Report (ADR) and initiate a thorough investigation.

After initial enquiry with local residents, the police identified the deceased as Yogesh Kamble. Further inquiries revealed that Yogesh Kamble had been consuming alcohol with the prime suspect, Ravindra Giri (34 years old), on the fateful night.

Accused Admits To Crime

Upon taking Ravindra Giri into custody, he admitted to the murder during police interrogation. Giri disclosed that he had a romantic involvement with the deceased's wife, and after intoxicating Yogesh Kamble, he led him to a mining area where he fatally struck him on the head with a stone. In a bid to mislead investigators, the accused hid the murder weapon, a stone, in his bag, to show that Kamble died due to an accident.

Legal Action Against Accused

The Samta Nagar Police immediately arrested Ravindra Giri in connection with the murder case. A case of murder under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code has been filed in the matter. Further investigation in the case is underway.
