Mumbai: A 21-year-old model has alleged she was repeatedly raped by a doctor under the pretext of marriage. After the doctor refused to marry her, she went to Versova police station and registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him on Friday.
We have registered an FIR against Dr Sunil Arora under sections for rape (IPC 376), unnatural offence (IPC 377), death caused by act done with intent to cause miscarriage (IPC 314) and cheating ( IPC 420),” said an officer from Versova police station. The doctor is yet to be arrested.
The model, a resident of Andheri, in her complaint to police, said she had sustained severe injuries to her neck while cooking at home in October 2017. After treatment and a month of rest, she approached a director, Rajesh, for modelling assignments, as she had worked with him before. When he saw the scar on her neck, he took her to Dr Sunil Arora.
At their first meeting, Arora assured her the scar could be treated. After this meeting, he took her on a drive. Soon, they began to chat on social media. The model has alleged the doctor kept raping her repeatedly, giving her false assurances of marriage. One night, he called her to an Andheri hotel.
Promising to marry her after six months, he persuaded her to share drinks with him, after which which he physically assaulted her. He then clicked pictures of her in a compromising position. He then continued to rape her on multiple occasions, by threatening to make these photographs and videos viral, the model claimed in her complaint.
In February, when she asked him about his marriage promise, he reportedly told her, his spiritual adviser had told him she was not trustworthy, so he could not marry her. After this, he would not take her phone calls and refused to meet her, compelling her to approach police.
