Mumbai: According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the city will witness intermittent rain until coming weekend as onset of monsoon is yet to arrive.
Senior official said after June 26 there will be good rainfall in city due to which Mumbaikars will get relief from hot and humid climate.
Mahesh Palawat, director, Skymet said looking at the current situation of the monsoon in other parts of Maharashtra, the city will receive good rains by this weekend.
“Once monsoon arrives there will moderate to heavy rainfall in the city in next two to three days,” added Palawat.
IMD predicted of widespread light-to-moderate rain in Mumbai and Thane from Monday to Wednesday, and heavy rain at isolated places on Thursday and Friday.
“There would be rains after June 26 and two days of continuous rain would be required to declare the formal arrival of the monsoon,” she added. As per the IMD, Mumbai city has received 127 mm rain against the normal rainfall of 375.3 mm, i.e. 66 per cent below normal, from June 1 to 23, 2019.
On Monday, the IMD said the southwest monsoon had further advanced into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, Konkan, most parts of Madhya Maharashtra, remaining parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha, some parts of Madhya Pradesh, some more parts of Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh, and some parts of Uttarakhand.
The monsoon is likely to advance into Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh, some parts of North Arabian Sea, Gujarat and some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours.
