Mumbai: Two men on a motorcycle fired three bullets at a man, who was walking on the footpath, in Kurla. The man died while he was being taken to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital on Tuesday morning. According to police, the deceased person identified as Jaanu Mallapa Pawar Billa alias Billa had murdered his step-brother Deepak Pawar over a property dispute and after being convicted, he was let out on bail.
But Deepak Pawar’s brother Vinod sought revenge and on Tuesday he shot Billa to death. Vinoba Bhave Nagar police have detained a suspect and are questioning him for his role in the murder. The deceased was a history-sheeter and had many cases registered against him at Kurla. Police are trying to track down his accomplice in the murder.
“The accused fired three bullets and then fled on their vehicle. We have detained one suspect and are questioning him and a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act,” the officer said on condition of anonymity.
