Mumbai: Hawkers booked for assault on cops in Andheri

Mumbai: A group of hawkers and hooligans allegedly assaulted policemen attached to DN Nagar police station on Thursday evening, when the police were patrolling in the area as a daily routine.

The incident was shot on a camera phone, which soon went viral on social media. When police were asked about the incident, a senior official said, the police party including the senior police inspector Parmeshwar Ganame was assaulted by local hawkers and hooligans.

Police have booked the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt (section 323), voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty (section 332). Further investigation is underway.
