On Saturday, Andheri police arrested a 39-year-old man for allegedly molesting a woman at Asalpha Metro station.
According to Mid-Day, the accused has been identified as Pravin Ramchandra Bandre (39) and is a resident of Barve Nagar in Ghatkopar. The victim, who is 40-year-old, is a resident of Ghatkopar. She had boarded a metro from Ghatkopar along with her relative and got off at Asalpha Metro station. The woman was in Asalpha to consult a doctor. The incident took place around 8.30 pm when she was going towards the exit gate at Asalpha Metro station. The accused, who was eyeing her, touched her inappropriately.
The woman immediately caught his hand and screamed to attract the attention of private guards at the Metro station. Meanwhile, the victim called up the police control room and informed them about the incident after which a team of officers from Andheri police station rushed to the spot. The cops arrested the accused under Section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) 354 A (Sexual harassment) of IPC. The Senior Inspector of Andheri police station, Mukund Pawar, “We are investigating the matter and will check with other police stations to find if he is involved in similar offences.”
