Mumbai: The BJP has strongly come forward against potholes in the city. A number of people have targeted the BMC on social media by posting pothole photos.
BJP MLA from Mulund Mihir Kotecha has come ahead and raised the issue by launching a 'Pothole Yatra' in Mulund from Monday. He called upon the engineers of the road department and showed them pothole-ridden roads and got them fixed.
Kotecha on his Twitter account posted pictures of potholes and appealed to the citizens to send photos along with their location on his mobile number 8454858833.
He ensured that he will try and get the pothole fixed at the earliest. Speaking to FPJ, Kotecha said, “I have started 'Pothole Yatra' from Monday which will continue till all the potholes are fixed.”
“Today, I visited LBS Road, Sarvoday Nagar Road and B R Road and appealed to the citizens to inform me if there are potholes in their localities. I will ensure that the potholes are filled at the earliest. I called up engineers as an MLA for the work they are supposed to complete.”
BMC officers had claimed that they have attended 90 per cent of pothole complaints.
However, Kotecha refuted the claim, saying that last Saturday the BMC had issued contracts to contractors.
How can BMC fill up 90 per cent of potholes in one day, he questioned claiming that the BMC has not even filled up 10 per cent of potholes in the city.
