Mumbai: 50-yr-old man booked for raping minor girl for over a month

The Bhoiwada police have booked a 50-year-old man for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl multiple times for over a month. The police have also booked the minor’s brother and sister-in-law as they did not pay heed to the minor who had alerted them about the repeated sexual assault.

The incident came to light last week when the minor, a native of Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, was admitted to a hospital in Parel due to her illness. But as her condition worsened she was shifted to KEM hospital. During her medical examination the doctors realised that she had been sexually assaulted and alerted the police.

In her statement to the police, the girl alleged that her brother and his wife sent her to one Mohammad Shaikh in the third week of April who allegedly raped her on multiple occasions. The accused took her to Dahanu and Nalasopara and raped her there as well, she alleged. When she informed that her brother and sister-in-law about the sexual assault but they ignored it stated the victim in her statement to the police.

Based on her statement the Bhoiwada police on Sunday registered a zero FIR under the relevant sections for rape and kidnapping woman to compel her marriage (366) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) along with sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) act.

The case was transferred to Nalasopara police station for further investigation since the offence were committed in their jurisdiction, said a police officer on the request of anonymity. The police are yet to make any arrest in the case. The senior inspector Vinod Kamble of Bhoiwada police station confirmed the registration of FIR.
