There is no end to farmers distress, in order to push their demands All Indian Kisan Sabha (AIKS) have said that they will on February 20 march from Nashik to Mumbai.
According to Mumbai Mirror, All Indian Kisan Sabha (AIKS) members met Devendra Fadnavis at Sahyadri on Sunday, but despite the chief minister’s assurances they later confirmed that a second long march from Nashik to Mumbai would go ahead as planned. Dr Ashok Dhawale, AIKS president told the leading daily, “This time the number of protesters and farmers will be double because tribal farmers feel that this government has cheated them.”
The farmers will begin their march from Nashik on February 20 and the state legislative session will start on February 25. The farmers’ demands include immediate drought relief, loan waiver, MSP at one-and-a-half the full cost of production, a pro-farmer insurance scheme and increased pensions.
