Mumbai: The web of lies that Indrani Mukherjea had allegedly weaved pertaining to her marriage and the subsequent divorce with Siddharth Das and the legal declaration of her parents as her daughter Sheena Bora’s parents may intertwine her in fresh legal trouble. Indrani had filed an affidavit before the Kamrup court in Guwahati, which states that Sheena and Mikhail are her children from her first husband, Siddharth Das. She also claimed in the affidavit that she was 20 years old when she separated from Das and that she had no relations with him since 1989. The affidavit clearly indicates that she gave birth to Sheena and Mikhail from her marriage with Das. However, according to claims made by Das, the duo was in a live-in relationship and had never gotten married.
In the same affidavit, Indrani has stated that she has legally handed over the responsibility of bringing up her two children – born from Das – to her parents, Upendra Kumar Bora and Durga Ranee Bora. This can be substantiated with Sheena’s admit card of the board for secondary exams, where instead of her father’s name, Sheena’s guardian’s name (Upendra Kumar Bora) is mentioned. Also, the records of Sudarshan Public School in Guwahati where Sheena studied have her grandfather’s name mentioned as the guardian. However, as per Sheena’s birth certificate, which was registered on April 4, 2002, Indrani’s father — Upendra Kumar Bora — is mentioned as Sheena’s father, while her mother’s name is the same as that of Indrani’s mother, Durga Ranee Bora.
This shows that the birth certificate was forged when Sheena was still in school, as the deceased had cleared her high school exam in 2004 with first class marks. “Indrani can be booked for forgery in both the cases – submitting false affidavit in the court and getting a birth certificate made by declaring false information,” said senior lawyer Abbas Kazmi.
Indrani returned from UK on day Sheena was killed
Police have said that Indrani had landed in Mumbai from the UK on the day Sheena was murdered. Indrani, along with Peter Mukerjea and adopted daughter Vidhi Mukerjea, had been to Peter’s London home. Indrani had told Peter that she wants to open an HR firm in India and thus wants to attend a meeting with some people, the cops said.
