GRP arrests woman bag snatcher

Mumbai : The Palghar GRP on Friday arrested a beggar woman who had stolen a woman’s purse containing an Iphone, Rs 10,000 cash, one gold chain, two diamond bangles and three diamond rings, while the latter was on her way back from Ahemdabad in the Gujarat Mail on July 14. The complainant had kept the purse under her head and went to sleep. At 4.30 am when she reached Dahanu, she realised that the purse containing the mobile, cash and jewels worth Rs 4.13 lakh is missing.  A complaint was filed at the Palghar police station who traced the phone using its IEMI number to Navsari in Gujarat. A team then went to Navsari and gathered information about the accused woman, and arrested her on Friday. They came to know that she is a beggar in Ahemdabad and are trying to find out if she was involved in more crimes such as these.
